Learn how to place manual orders via Gelato Dashboard

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to place manual orders through the Gelato Dashboard, a useful feature for testing or individual orders before integrating your ecommerce store. The dashboard also allows you to manage your orders, track their progress, and make changes as needed.


Placing Your Manual Order

Gelato offers three convenient ways to initiate a manual order:

  1. From the Dashboard home page, click on "New Order."

  2. Navigate to the "Orders Section" and click on "New Order."

  3. Browse the "Product Catalog," select your desired product, and add it directly to your order.

For the first two options, once you click "New Order," proceed by clicking "Add Product." You'll then be presented with three choices:

  1. Create a brand new product by selecting "Single Product."

  2. Utilize a previously saved design template by choosing "Use a template."

  3. If you've already connected your store to Gelato, you can select a product directly from your store's inventory by clicking "Select from other store."

Creating from Our Catalog

Let's walk through creating a product from the Gelato catalog:

  1. Start by selecting your desired product category (e.g., Framed Posters). Then, choose the specific product you want (e.g., Classic Matte Paper Wooden Framed Poster).

  2. Customize your product by selecting from the available attributes, which vary depending on the product category. For instance, you can typically choose the format, orientation, and frame color. For this example, let's select a 30x40cm horizontal poster with a black frame.

  3. You'll then see the product price (consistent for most products globally), shipping costs to various regions (with flat rates available for many products), and other relevant product details. Now, you have two options for uploading your design:

  1. Design from scratch: Click "Start designing" to utilize our intuitive design editor (learn more). Upload your image and enjoy the flexibility of resizing, moving, adding text, and more.

  2. Upload print-ready file: If your design is finalized and in the correct dimensions, upload it directly as a PDF or image file (PNG, JPEG). Click the three dots next to "Start designing" and select "Upload print file."

For this demonstration, let's proceed with the "Start Designing" option.

  • Click "Add New" to incorporate a new image or text box. You can upload from your computer, Google Photos, Facebook, or Instagram. We'll add an image from the computer for this example.

  • Once uploaded, click the "+" button to add it to your design. Adjust its placement, add text, or make any other desired modifications. When you're satisfied with your design, you can proceed with your order.



Finalizing Your Order

On the order details page, specify the quantity and set your retail price (optional). This is the price you'll charge your customers. Select your preferred currency and click "Continue to shipping."

Next, provide the shipping address and an optional order number for easy identification. Click "Calculate Shipping" to view available shipping methods for the provided address, along with estimated delivery times and costs.

After selecting your shipping method, you can set the retail price for shipping, representing the amount you'll charge your customers. Click "Continue to review" to move forward.

Lastly, choose your preferred payment method from the available options. If it's your first order, you can add a new payment method. For more details about payment methods, click here.

Once you've selected your payment method, click "Pay securely" to complete the payment and successfully place your manual order.



Managing Your Orders

The Gelato Dashboard provides a central hub for monitoring all your orders. You can conveniently track production progress and shipment status, and even cancel or edit orders as needed.
