Where can I find the flat rates for shipping?
Where can I find the flat rates for shipping?
Updated over a week ago

You can find the flat shipping rates in the product catalog on each product's page - see the example below. The rates indicated in the table are the standard shipping costs for the first product (i.e. if you order 1 item) and for any additional product (i.e. if you order more than 1 item in the same order).

Flat shipping rates are applied to most of the products in our catalog. Products without flat shipping rates have variable shipping prices depending on the destination country. For such products, you can obtain a quotation for the shipping costs upon checkout.

The shipping rates in the product catalog are shown in the same currency as the product prices. Prices can be displayed in a different currency, just go to the top-right corner of your account (your initials) then settings, Language, and Currency section and choose the currency you prefer.

Also, our flat shipping rates are defined in EUR. If you are selling in a different currency, our current fixed exchange rate will be applied at the moment of the order.

The flat shipping rate we offer for a geographical area (e.g. Europe) is the minimum common shipping rate we can offer for all the countries within that area. This means that you might find some countries where a cheaper shipping method is available for your end customer's location when using live shipping prices, e.g. if you place a manual order through the Gelato Dashboard.

Geographical areas

In order to simplify the configuration of shipping prices, we have defined the following geographical areas for flat shipping rates:

For some products, not all the shipping areas might be visible, which means that shipping for that product might not be supported in that area.

Calculating shipping price using flat rates

For orders containing one or multiple items of the same product, the total shipping price is calculated as follows:

First product shipping price + [ Additional product shipping price x (Quantity - 1) ]

Single product

Example: Your customer in the USA places an order for one White 11oz Ceramic Mug. You will want to take into account the Shipping first product price:

Based on this, the shipping cost for this order will be €3.96

Multiple Quantities of the Same Product

Example: Your customer in Brazil orders three canvases of size 45x60cm.

How to calculate: First product price + 2x Additional product price

As listed in the catalog, the First product price is €21.34 and the Additional product price is €10.45

The shipping cost for this order will be €21.34 + 2x (€10.45) = €42.24

Multiple Quantities of the Same Product in Different Sizes

Example: Your customer in Spain orders two Classic Matte Posters in different sizes - One 70x100cm and the other A4

How to calculate: First product price for size with more expensive shipping + Additional product price for size(s) with cheaper shipping

As Spain falls under the Europe cluster, we should refer to the flat rate prices for this area.

The shipping cost for the 70x100 cm posters is higher, at €6.94.

The shipping cost for the A4 posters is lower, at €6.38.

To calculate, we would use the First product price of the 70x100cm poster and the Additional product price of the A4 poster.

The shipping cost for this order will be €6.94 + €0.20 = €7.14

Two different products in the same order produced in a single location

Example: Your customer in Germany orders a 60x80 Classic Matte Paper Wooden Framed Poster and a 30x40 Classic Matte Paper Poster.

How to calculate: First product price for the product with more expensive shipping + Additional product price for the product with cheaper shipping

The shipping cost for the 60x80 Classic Matte Paper Wooden Framed Poster is higher, at €17.84.

The shipping cost for the 30x40 Classic Matte Paper Poster is lower, at €4.24.

Screenshot_2022-10-18_104322.png

To calculate, we would use the First product price of the 60x80 framed poster and the Additional product price of the 30x40 poster.

The shipping cost for this order will be €17.84 + €0.21 = €18.05

Two different products in the same order produced in different locations

Shipping costs will be calculated separately for each part of the order. You can read more about this case here.

Express Shipping

Flat shipping rates are prices for economy shipping methods. You can also obtain live pricing for express shipment methods. You can place a manual order via the Gelato Dashboard to get an estimation for express shipping methods. If you are using Shopify or Woocommerce, you can also set up live shipping rates for your store. You can read more about this in our articles:
