What's the retail price?

Learn how to set retail pricing for your products and understand its impact on profits. Discover how to manage pricing across sales channels

Updated over 3 months ago

This article explains retail pricing, which is the price you set for your customers. It covers how retail price affects your profits and provides details on how to set retail prices for different sales channels.

Understanding Retail Pricing

Retail price represents the final amount your customers pay for a product. It directly impacts your profit margins, calculated by subtracting Gelato's product fulfillment cost from your set retail price.

For instance, if Gelato charges $11.07 for fulfilling a product and you set the retail price at $24.23, your profit per unit sold would be $13.16, excluding shipping costs.

Setting Your Retail Price

You can find Gelato's product prices in our catalog. During checkout, you'll receive precise order calculations, including the retail price.

Here's how to manage retail pricing across different selling methods:

Gelato Dashboard Orders

When placing a manual order through the Gelato Dashboard, you can specify separate retail prices for both the product and shipping. This information will be reflected on the commercial invoice, especially crucial for international shipments.

E-commerce Store Products

When adding products to platforms like Shopify or Etsy, you'll be prompted to input the retail price and/or your desired profit margin for each product variant.

While Gelato prioritizes local production and fulfillment, international shipping may be necessary in rare instances. For destinations operating under Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU), the declared retail price is used to determine potential customs fees.
