Learn how to streamline order fulfillment by using Gelato’s "Import Orders" feature to transition Wix orders seamlessly into Gelato

Updated over 4 months ago

This article explains how to seamlessly transition your e-commerce orders from Wix to Gelato using the handy "Import Order" feature. This function simplifies order fulfillment by automatically importing your Wix orders into your Gelato dashboard.

Understanding Order Import

Activating the "Import Order" feature means that all new orders from your Wix store will appear in your Gelato dashboard under the "Orders" section, marked as "Not Connected." This status indicates that these orders need your attention before they can be fulfilled.

Think of it as your Gelato inbox for Wix orders. Once an order lands in "Not Connected," you have two options:

  • Connect: Choose this if you want Gelato to fulfill the order. You can connect it to an existing product in your Gelato store or create a new one.

  • Ignore: If you don't want Gelato to handle a specific order or product, you can choose to ignore it. This is useful if you work with other fulfillment services or manage certain products yourself.

Benefits of Using Import Orders

Whether you're handling a handful or a flood of orders, using the "Import Orders" feature saves you time and streamlines your workflow. Here's how:

  • Automation: After the initial connection, future orders with the same product variant will be processed automatically by Gelato.

  • Centralized Management: See all your Wix orders directly in your Gelato dashboard, giving you a clear overview of your pending fulfillments.

  • Efficiency: Quickly connect or ignore products, making order processing smooth and efficient.

Connecting and Ignoring Products: A Closer Look

Here's a deeper dive into the "Connect" and "Ignore" options:

Connect Product

Clicking "Connect" lets you choose how Gelato fulfills the order:

  • Connect to an Existing Item: Link the order to a product already in your Gelato store. This is the fastest way to fulfill orders for products you regularly sell.

  • Create a New Product: If the product is new or unique, use Gelato's design tools to create it directly from your Gelato dashboard. This option gives you flexibility for custom orders or one-off designs.

Once you've connected a product, all future orders containing the same variant will be automatically fulfilled by Gelato, saving you time and effort.

Ignore Product

The "Ignore" option offers flexibility for orders you don't want Gelato to fulfill. You have three options when ignoring:

  1. Ignore this item for this order: This option is perfect if you want to handle this specific order item differently, perhaps fulfilling it yourself or using another service. Future orders with this item will still appear in your "Not Connected" orders, giving you the flexibility to decide how to fulfill on a case-by-case basis.

  2. Ignore this variant for all incoming orders: Use this if you never want Gelato to fulfill a particular product variant. For example, if you sell T-shirts and only fulfill sizes S-XL through Gelato, you can ignore sizes 2XL and above. This ensures that future orders containing only those ignored variants won't be imported into Gelato, keeping your dashboard clean and focused.

  3. Ignore this product for all incoming orders in all variants: This is the most comprehensive ignore option. If you never want Gelato to handle a specific product, regardless of its variant (size, color, etc.), choose this. This is helpful if you sell a diverse range of products and only want Gelato to fulfill certain categories.
