Learn how to place orders in centimeters or inches with Gelato, and understand how size conversions ensure smooth fulfillment across regions

Updated over a week ago

This article explains how Gelato manages orders in centimeters and inches to simplify your selling process across different regions.

Order in Centimeters or Inches

You have the flexibility to place orders in either centimeters (cm) or inches for any delivery location worldwide. Gelato streamlines the fulfillment process by handling the necessary conversions and ensuring local production.

For instance, if your customer orders a poster, frame, or framed poster in centimeters for delivery to North America, Gelato automatically converts the order to the closest inch size before local production. The same principle applies when converting from inches to centimeters.

Product Sizes and Equivalents

You can find a comprehensive list of available sizes, including their centimeter and inch equivalents, on the product page in the product catalog. This makes it easy for you to select the appropriate size for your needs.

Important Note on Size Conversions

It's worth noting that certain sizes, like ISO A-formats, lack exact equivalents in inches with the same aspect ratio. For example, an order for an A4 poster shipped to the US is automatically converted to the closest size, 8x12 inches, which has a different aspect ratio. This might lead to slight cropping of the design.

To avoid this, we recommend adding a safety margin around the edges of your designs. This ensures that essential design elements remain unaffected during the conversion process.
