Do your products have a GTIN or MPN number?

Learn about the requirements for product identifiers like GTIN and MPN on e-commerce platforms

Updated over 4 months ago

This article explains the requirements of product identifiers such as Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) and Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) on e-commerce platforms.

Product Identifiers on E-commerce Platforms

Some e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces, such as Amazon and Google, may require specific product identifiers for the products you sell. These identifiers typically include:

  • Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)

  • Manufacturer Part Number (MPN)

If you're offering Gelato products, you might not be able to provide these identifiers. In such cases, it's recommended to remove these attributes from your product feed and include an attribute for "identifier_exists" with a value of "FALSE" for all listed products.

GTIN Exemption

Certain platforms might require you to request a GTIN exemption. For more information, refer to the specific guidelines provided by the e-commerce platform or online marketplace you're using. You can usually find this information on their website, Help Center, or by contacting their Customer Support.
