This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to set a limit on the number of product units available in your Shopify store. This is particularly helpful for managing limited edition items or creating a sense of urgency for certain products.

Enabling Inventory Tracking

Before setting unit limits, ensure inventory tracking is enabled for your desired products. If it's already enabled, you can skip ahead to Setting the Number of Units.

  1. Access Your Shopify Admin: Log in to your Shopify account and navigate to your admin dashboard.

  2. Go to Products: Click the "Products" tab from the admin dashboard.

  3. Select Your Product(s): Check the box next to each product you want to limit.

  4. Choose "Bulk Edit": Locate and click the "Bulk Edit" option on the right side of the screen.

  5. Enable Inventory Tracking:

    • Click "Columns" in the bulk editor's top menu.

    • Scroll down to the "Inventory" section.

    • Check the box for "Track quantity."

    Add Inventory Tracking Select
  6. Apply to All Selected Products: Ensure all boxes are checked for the products you're updating.

  7. Save Your Changes: Click the "Save" button.

Setting the Number of Units

  1. Go to Inventory: On the right-hand side of the page, select "Inventory."

  2. Set Your Limit: Under the "Available" column, input the desired number of units for each product.

  3. Save Again: Click "Save" to finalize your changes.

By limiting product units, you can effectively manage inventory and create a sense of exclusivity, potentially increasing customer interest and driving sales.
