Why the stock on Etsy is low?

Learn how to manage Etsy inventory by adjusting variation quantities in your shop manager to prevent premature low stock alerts

Updated over 3 months ago

This article explains how to manage your inventory on Etsy, ensuring accurate stock representation to your customers. When you list an item with multiple variations, such as different sizes or colors, Etsy allows you to set specific quantities for each variation.

Understanding Low Stock Notifications

Etsy helps you keep track of your inventory and provides transparency to your buyers by displaying "Low in Stock" or "Only X Left" messages on your listings when a variation's quantity runs low. This notification indicates that you have a limited number of that specific variation available.

Managing Your Inventory

To adjust the quantity of your variations and manage your inventory effectively, follow these simple steps:

  1. Access your Etsy shop manager.

  2. Go to the "Listings" section.

  3. Choose the listing you wish to modify.

  4. Click on the "cog" icon and select "Edit."

  5. Scroll down to the "Variations" section.

  6. Locate the variation you need to adjust.

  7. Enter the correct quantity in the "Quantity" field.

  8. Save your changes.

Preventing Premature Low Stock Messages

To avoid the "Low in Stock" or "Only X Left" message from appearing too early, consider setting a high quantity for your variations, such as 999. This ensures you have ample inventory and prevents any premature stock notifications from discouraging potential buyers.
