Understanding Canvas Print Areas

Let's explore the different ways you can present your artwork on the canvas:

Front Print Only

For designs intended solely for the front of the canvas, position your artwork within the inner box of the template. This ensures the design remains within the front surface area and doesn't extend to the sides.

Uploading your image like this will result in a print where the sides of the canvas remain white.

Wrapped Canvas Print

To extend your design seamlessly onto the sides of the canvas, expand your artwork to cover the entire template area, including the edges.

This technique creates a visually captivating effect, making the artwork appear continuous around the frame.

Bleed and Canvas Wrap

When designing your artwork, remember to account for the canvas being stretched over the frame. This involves adding a bleed area to ensure colors and images extend to the edges even after stretching.

Understanding Bleed

The bleed is the extra space around your design that extends beyond the edge of the canvas. This area is crucial for accommodating the wrapping of the canvas around the frame. Without bleed, you risk ending up with white edges on your final print.

Calculating Dimensions for Wrapped Canvas

For a canvas with a 2cm thickness and dimensions of 200x300mm (vertical orientation), where the image wraps around the edges, your uploaded image should have the following dimensions:

  • Slim: 200mm + (34mm x 2) + (15mm x 2) = 298 mm

  • Thick: 300mm + (40mm x 2) + (15mm x 2) = 410 mm
