This article provides a comprehensive guide on designing multipage brochures, covering various binding types and page count considerations.
Understanding Binding Types
We offer three distinct binding types for multipage formats: Perfect Bind, Stitched, and Wire-o. Each type caters to specific page counts and paper thicknesses, ensuring a professional and polished finish for your brochures.
Perfect Bind (Glue Bind)
Perfect binding involves gluing the pages at the spine, resembling a traditional book format. This binding method is ideal for brochures with a page count between 28 and 250, always in multiples of 2 (e.g., 28, 30, 32,... 250). It is suitable for thicker papers, providing a robust and durable finish. When designing your brochure, ensure the spine adheres to our requirements for optimal results.
Saddle-Stitched
Saddle-stitched binding is a widely used method where folded sheets are nested and secured through the fold line with wire staples. This cost-effective binding option is suitable for brochures with a page count ranging from 8 to 52, always in multiples of 4 (e.g., 8, 12, 16,... 52). It is best suited for brochures using thinner papers.
Wire-o
Wire-o binding offers a premium look and feel. Pages are punched with holes and joined with metal hoops. This method allows brochures to lay flat, making them ideal for presentations or documents requiring frequent page turning. Wire-o binding is suitable for brochures with a page count between 28 and 150, always in multiples of 2 (e.g., 28, 30, 32,... 150).
Accurate Page Count: A Crucial Aspect
When placing an order for your multipage brochures, remember that the page count information is not included in the product UID. You need to specify the total page count using the attribute 'pageCount.' This attribute ensures that your brochure is printed with the correct number of pages. For detailed information on how to structure your order data, please refer to our technical documentation.
Counting Pages Correctly
When determining the 'pageCount' for your brochure, count each side of a sheet as a separate page. This includes the front and back covers, inner cover pages, and all content pages. For instance, an 8-page booklet consists of:
Front cover (page 1)
Inside front cover (page 2)
Content page (page 3)
Content page (page 4)
Content page (page 5)
Content page (page 6)
Inside back cover (page 7)
Back cover (page 8)
Therefore, the 'pageCount' attribute for this booklet would be '8'.
